Mrs. Bernadette Caple Clyburn is the third oldest of six children born to the late Luther and Sarah Caple Sr.  She was born in White Plains, NY, When she was ten years old, her family moved to Maxton, NC.  She is a 1979 graduate of Maxton High School, Maxton, NC., and a graduate of Salem College, Winston-Salem, NC.  She currently works for North Carolina A & T State University.  Mrs. Clyburn was an active member of United Metropolitan Baptist Church for twenty-six years before moving her membership to Red Bank Baptist Church.

Mrs. Clyburn married Rev. James R. Clyburn Sr., on January 25, 2014.  She has two sons, Jason (Christy) McDougald and Brian (Kelley) McDougald.  She has two step-children, Mrs. Janet Campbell and Rev. James R. Clyburn Jr. (Jondrea).  Together Rev. and Mrs. Clyburn have six grandchildren, Ja’Nai and Duone Campbell II, James and Justin Clyburn, Jasmine Beck and Cash McDougald.

Mrs. Clyburn is a member of the Deaconess Ministry, Missionary Ministry and the Children’s Message Ministry.  She enjoys bowling and working with the youth in the church and community.
